LaVonne M. Goodsell

   LaVonne M. Goodsell, 87, of Dakota City passed away Sunday June 5, 2022 at her home surrounded by family. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.    LaVonne was born the daughter of Walter and Della (Jensen) Luesebrink on July 29, 1934 in rural Homer, Nebraska on the family farm. She graduated from Homer High School in 1953. She married Tilden Thomas (Tom) Goodsell  on December 13, 1953, where they resided in Dakota City until they moved to Bordeaux France until 1961. LaVonne raised 4 children, worked at the Dakota County Court House, Northern Propane and  Ferrellgas until her retirement in 1996. She then volunteered as a helper with disabled high school children on how to live independently.

   She enjoyed her friends, spoiling her grandkids, getting her hair done, traveling, playing cards, working crossword puzzles, embroidery, gardening and mowing her yard on her John Deere mower.

   LaVonne is survived by her children, Scott Goodsell of South Sioux City, Lori Goodsell of Dakota City, and Leslee Goodsell of Sioux City. Grandchildren, Zachary Goodsell (Emily) of Waterbury, Ne., Kelli Goodsell of Ponca, Ne., and Samantha (Jeff) Athey of Scottsdale, Az. Great grandchildren Bennett Athey and Henry Rogers; and many neices and nephews who adored her.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest son Timothy J. Goodsell and her sister Mardel Copple.
