Lawrence Duane Piper

Lawrence Duane Piper, 87, of Dakota City, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021.  A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 30, 2021 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Dakota City Cemetery. 

Lawrence was born the son of Lawrence F. and Evelyn (Sailors) Piper on September 16, 1933 in Walthill, Nebraska.  He graduated from Walthill High School and Wayne State College.  Lawrence married Margaret Moeller on August 20, 1960. 

He taught in Dakota City, South Sioux City, and Riverside. 

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.  He was always looking for a good bargain and could often be found antiquing. 

Lawrence honorably served his country in the United States Army.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Margaret Piper of Dakota City; children, Rita (Doug) Leckband, Craig Piper, and Susan Weber; grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Weber; siblings, Gordon (Virginia) Piper, Dennis (Robbie) Piper, Elsa (Gene) Phillips, Sally (Ted) Drum, Linda (Ron) Fabry, and Rhonda (Gary) Hirchert; and sister-in-law, Nancy Piper.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Curt.
