Lawrence E. Vess

Lawrence E. "Larry" Vess, 62 of South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at his residence.Funeral services were held on Monday, June 02, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Glad Tidings Lighthouse, 410 E. 10th Street, South Sioux City, Nebraska with Pastor Michael Ring officiating. Visitation with the family present was at 6:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 01, 2008 at the Mohr Funeral Home, 1000 W. 29th Street, Ste. 110, South Sioux City, Nebraska.Lawrence was born on January 03, 1946 in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Rollin and Arvella (Miller) Vess. His family moved to Clarkson, Michigan, where he grew up and graduated from Clarkson Senior High in 1964. He joined the Air Force, and served for twenty years, from 1965 until 1985, when he retired in Wichita Falls, Texas. He moved to South Sioux City, Nebraska in 1990. Lawrence married Mollie Downhour on November 02, 1993. He worked in security at Western Iown Tech for ten years and retired in 2003. He recently worked for RGIS.Survivors include his wife, Mollie of South Sioux City, Nebraska; five daughters, Lori Fodor of Clayton, North Carolina, Carol and her husband, Denis Campbell of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Patty Keller of Phoenix, Arizona, Donna and her husband Stanley Cook of Jefferson, South Dakota and Connie Ford of South Sioux City, Nebraska; 15 grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Regina, Bob, Michelle, Kirk, Cherese, Todd, Angel, Nichole, Leah, Brent, Molly, Jesse; 21 great-grandchildren, Lucia, Trey, Tyre, T'Andre, Alyssia, Emily, Hayley, Autumn, Kirsten, Andrew, Victoria, Aspen, Faith, Kara, Audric, Alarye, Tyson, Bryce, Drake, Solomon, Nathanael; 2 brothers, Gerald and Frederick Vess; and one sister, Rolla Vess.Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack and one sister, Nola Gritzinger.
