Leaetta "Lea" Resene

February 17, 1935 — November 3, 2021

Leaetta “Lea” Resene, 86, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at a local hospital. 

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 8, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Reverend Barbara Joy officiating.  Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Leaetta was born February 17, 1935 in rural Clay County, Iowa, the daughter of Paul Vernon and Ruth Angeline (Lown) Flaharty.  She grew up in rural Terrill, Iowa and graduated from Lake Center High School in 1953. Leaetta was united in marriage to Frank Flack, and to this union, five children were born. Leaetta was united in marriage to Lorell “Ozzie” Resene and to this union, one daughter was born. 

Leaetta’s passion for cooking and serving those around her led her to cook at various restaurants, own and operate her own restaurant, work for catering companies, and cater out of her own home; but her greatest joy was cooking for her family and friends.  She also loved to crochet and watch sports. including her beloved Cubs.  Perhaps her greatest love though, was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Leaetta is survived by her children:  Caroline (Scott) Slater of Cushing, IA, Frank (Sandy) Flack of Ramsey, MN, Vernon (Darla) Flack of Milford, IA, Virgil (Chris) Flack of Cottage Grove, MN, Lenny (Kelli) Flack of Le Mars, IA, and Regina (Mark) Rawlings of Sioux City; 21 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren with 2 on the way; 1 great-great grandchild; brother Paul Jr. (Joyce) Flaharty of Terrill, IA; and a sister Louise Reinken of TN.

Leaetta was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters: Pauline Chamberlain, Dorothy Hansen, Doris Garoutte, and Irene Tirevold and several brother-in-laws.
