Leila C. Mathiason

Leila C. Mathiason, 76, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away unexpectedly November 13, 2021.  A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 16 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran-Abundant New Life Church.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Leila was born on December 16, 1944 in Meno, SD to Edwin and Leah (Lang) Ulmer.  She was united in marriage to William “Tony” Mathiason on June 9, 1963, at the Lutheran Church in Harington, NE.  The couple moved to Sioux City in 1966.  Leila was employed at Aalfs Manufacturing company until her retirement.  While working there she sewed on the line, trained numerous people, and worked her way up to supervisor.  She enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting, and was a member of First Lutheran-New Abundant Life Church.

Those left to honor her memory include her three sons: Ricky (Jeannie) Mathiason, Roy (Amy) Mathiason, Rodney (Holly) Mathiason, all of Sioux City; three grandchildren: Brandon Johnson, Shelby and Quillen Mathiason; great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Adan and Elijah Johnson, Baylee Nichols, Cooper and Charlie Lindberg; siblings: Darrell (Bev) Ulmer, Marsha (Gary) Schelske, Linda (Tony) Schulte, Lynn (Ramona) Ulmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony; granddaughter, Mindee Banys, and great-grandson, Benjamin Lindberg.
