Leo John Foxhoven, 88, of Dakota City passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Mike Keating officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 5:00 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. all at the Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in South Sioux City.
Leo was born August 26, 1931 in Shelby County near Panama, IA, the son of Theodore and Clara (Hein) Foxhoven. He enlisted into the United States Army and served during the Korean War. Leo married Donna Smith on June 15, 1963 in Earling, IA. Leo loved to farm and farmed until the age of 40, when he then started his career at IBP for 32 years before retiring. Leo enjoyed working and that was his fun and relaxation. He was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, where he liked working the various dinners and functions.
Leo is survived by his wife Donna Foxhoven of Dakota City; three children: John (Melissa) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Michael (Cindy) of Sioux City, and Thomas of Dakota City, NE; 10 grandchildren: Austin, Nick, Michael, Jessica, Connor, Maxwell, Matthew, Alec, Chelsea, and Corrine; 7 great grandchildren; and a sister: Marilyn (Foxhoven) Henkel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy (Harold) Rau, brother and sister-in law: Gerald and Mary Jo Foxhoven-Christensen, parents-in-law: Donald and Rebecca Smith, sister and brother-in-law: Blanche and Robert Groszkrueger, and a great grandson Jaxon Foxhoven.
