Lea was born July 1, 1923 in Woodbine, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Horn) Baker.  She graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1942.  Lea worked as a front desk clerk at the Fontenelle Hotel in Omaha.  She met Anthony L. “Tony” Wolff and they were wed at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Omaha on September 20, 1945.  Once the children were born, Lea became a full-time mom and homemaker.  Tony’s career brought the family to Sioux City in 1954.  For the next 30 years, Lea was active in the St. Boniface Rosary Society and the Home and School Association.  She worked parttime at the West Junior service lunches.  A highlight in her life was getting her driver’s license at the age of 50.

Lea and Tony retired to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas in 1984, where she kept books for their Cobbler Shoppe business.  Lea was active at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound.  Lea enjoyed gardening and canning, and especially family visits.  Lea and Tony returned to Sioux City in 2013 to be closer to family.

Survivors include her children:  Kenneth (Fern) Wolff of Sioux City, Duane (Konnie) Wolff of Sioux City, and Sue (Brian) Christensen of Omaha, NE; 5 grandchildren:  Stephanie (Jason) Heger, Kevin Wolff, Amanda Wolff, Todd Christensen and Sean Christensen; a step-grandson, Jason Christensen; and eight great grandchildren.

Lea was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tony, one brother Sylvester, and four sisters:  Pauline, Amelia, Evelyn, and Lucille.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

We the family express our love of Leona, for she will be dearly missed.  We give heartfelt thanks to Hospice, Sunrise Retirement Community, and all the medical professionals and staff who have helped Leona and us in these recent times.  May God Bless.
