LeRoy Gillaspie, 59 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, formerly of Dakota City, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Allegiant Hospice House in Omaha.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Mohr Funeral Home, 1431 W. 29th Street, South Sioux City, Nebraska with Chaplain Cheryl Johansen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the funeral home.LeRoy was born on June 22, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa to Lawrence and Mary (Schincke) Gillaspie.He grew up in the Jefferson-Elk Point area and graduated from Elk Point High School in 1968. He then attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, earning a bachelor's degree in geology and psychology. He moved to the Omaha-Plattsmouth area where he resided 25 years.He loved to work in his yard.Survivors include his fianc, Sue Breeding; brothers, Fred (Ruth) Gillaspie, Russell (Marlene) Gillaspie, Rodney (Mary) Gillaspie, Randy Gillaspie; sisters, Terri (Marlo) Beermann, and Kathy (Bill) Sweisberger; several nieces and nephews.LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Gillaspie; sister, Mary Esther O'Dell; and one nephew.
