LeRoy Rosenbaum

May 28, 1941 — June 20, 2022

LeRoy Rosenbaum, 81 of Sioux City passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022.  Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation, with family present, will begin at noon on Friday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com

LeRoy was born on May 28, 1941, in rural Elk Point to Virgil and Madonna (Kneebone) Rosenbaum. He grew up outside Elk Point until moving to Sioux City. In 1961 LeRoy wed the love of his life, his Shirlee Ann (O’Dea).

LeRoy and Shirlee welcomed three sons: Randy, Rick, and Rob. LeRoy made a career as an optician until his retirement in 2006. He enjoyed numerous hobbies including fishing, woodworking, karaoke, and Tae-Kwon-Do, even earning a black belt in his 60’s.

LeRoy will be remembered for many things including: his booming voice and laugh, years of his birthday wishes sung only slightly off key, his annual reading of The Night Before Christmas, his quick wit, and big heart.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirlee; sons, Randy (Shauna) Rosenbaum of Sioux City, Rick Rosenbaum of Sioux City, and Rob (Billie) Rosenbaum of Lincoln, N.E.; grandsons, Jordan (Missy), Taylor, Tanner, and Ryan Rosenbaum; granddaughters, Samantha (Michael) Menke and Katie (Steven) Lewis; great-grandchildren, Parker, Evelyn, Easton, Brooks, and Cal; two sisters, Betty Whitted of Santa Ana, C.A., and Dieanna (Wendell) Powell of Trent, S.D.; and several nieces and nephews.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his mother Madonna, father Virgil, and step-father Herb Yates.
