LeRoy E. Totman, 68, of Dakota City, NE passed away at Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, NE on Friday, May 2, 2014.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Peter Speiser, interim minister for Salem Lutheran Church in Dakota City officiating, and with military rites conducted by the South Sioux City American Legion. Visitation with the family present will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family asks that the service be a casual affair (jeans welcomed).LeRoy was born on May 28, 1945 in Northfield, MN, the son of Harold and Myrtle Grace (Olson) Totman. He attended school in Minnesota before entering the U.S. Navy, where he was served at Pensacola, Florida for four years. He married the mother of his two sons, Carol Timmermann, and later found happiness with his ballerina of thirteen years, Kathy Watkins. He worked on an oil rig in Florida, moved to Sibley, Iowa in 1980, then Sioux City, IA in 1985, where he worked as an over the road truck driver.LeRoy was a member of the South Sioux City American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing, and was a hard worker. It was important to him to instill his work ethic in his sons.Survivors include his significant other, Kathy Watkins of Dakota City, NE; sons, Kevin (Kerrie) Totman of Dakota City, NE and Erik (Nanette) Totman of South Sioux City, NE; aunt, Anna Oberg; niece and nephew, Janelle Cantrell and Brian Jensen.LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Grace Totman; the mother of his sons, Carol; and a sister, Betty Jo.
