Leslie A. Ptak

October 12, 1935 — January 31, 2022

Leslie A. Ptak, 86, of South Sioux City, Nebraska, died Monday, January 31, 2022 at a local hospital, comforted by family.  Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 4, 2022 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City with Pastor Paul Malcomson, of Light of the World, officiating.  Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton, South Dakota.  Visitation, with the family present, will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.   

Leslie was born on October 12, 1935 in Tabor, South Dakota to Adolph and Esther (Bukacek) Ptak.  He grew up on the family farm and had fond memories of helping his father.  He graduated from Tabor High School.  Leslie married the love of his life, Twyela Garrison at age 18 in her parent’s home on December 24, 1954.  Following the marriage, the couple moved to Tabor, South Dakota where they lived before moving to Yankton.  In 1967, they moved to South Sioux City, Nebraska. 

Leslie worked in construction for Salzbach and Sioux City Engineering as a brick layer for many years.  He then worked for the City of South Sioux City in maintenance until his retirement.

He will be fondly remembered as a kind soul, a hard worker, and a jokester.  He enjoyed fishing for trout and catfish and camping with his family in the Black Hills.  He loved NASCAR, gardening, and riding his motorcycle. 

Left to cherish many beautiful memories include his son, Roland (Rochelle) Ptak of Sioux City, IA, daughter, Glenda (Bob) Frank of South Sioux City, NE, son, Kevin Ptak of South Sioux City, NE, and son, Myron Ptak of Vermillion, SD; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sister Ardy Ament.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Twyela; and great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Ptak.
