In Loving Memory of Lester Dean Padget

8-22-1947 — 2-9-2022

Born in Davis County, Iowa, Lester was born to Ola Herbert & Lale Padget. He grew up with older brothers Carl (Donna Padget), Donald LeRoy (Shirley Bogert), sister Neva Padget (Ken Allen), half-sisters Esther Padget (Lyle Vroman), Ellen Padget Ruggles, Doris Phillips, Wannetta Huber, and half-brothers Wade and Offard Ritz. He has many wonderful Padget nieces and nephews and a very special aunt, Bette Herbert.

Lester was an outstanding athlete in football, wrestling & track, receiving many honors at Davis County High School in Bloomfield, Iowa. Lester moved on to Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa with scholarships both for football & wrestling. He met Yvonne Heaton (introduced by her brother Ken Heaton) in 1966 and they were married on August 31, 1968 in Sioux City. In 1970, he was honored to try out with the Miami Dolphins in Miami, Florida. After that he returned to college to get his teaching degree and taught High School English for four years, while coaching wrestling & football at Woodbury Central in Moville, Iowa. He spent summers working in the beef industry and eventually decided to make it his career, which lasted 49 years.  He relocated the family many times for this career, making many friends with every move.

Les and Yvonne modeled the perfect marriage of 53 years, full of love and laughter and making forever memories. His most proud and successful job was being father & mentor to his three children; Alesha Padget (Chris Henderson), Eric Padget (Gretchen Lembrich) and Jason Padget. He enjoyed all school events and coaching the kids in all of their different sports. He truly loved his precious grandchildren who called him Bompie; Abby & Evan Henderson, Katelyn, Elyse & Owen Padget and Jackson & William Padget.

Les loved his in-laws Gordon & Dorothy Heaton and fit into the family perfectly with Ken (Marilyn Garrett), Linda (Jim Fetterman), Mary (Ken Luse), Ron (Debi Sample), Dave (Barb Phillips) & Kevin (Kathy Feste). He also dearly loved all of his nieces and nephews.

Les, you handled pain and suffering without any complaints through life and now it is time that you enjoy God's Heavenly Paradise without pain & worry. Padget strong, you are!

We love you so much and know that you are with us, guiding us from above.
