Linda Louise Mead

Linda Louise Mead, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, in Sioux City, IA at the age of 75. Born on February 16, 1949, in Broken Arrow, OK, she was the daughter of Albert and Frankie Louise (Howell) Taylor. Linda grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Broken Arrow High School. On November 9, 1968, she was united in marriage to David Clark Mead, with whom she shared a joyful life that was dedicated to their family.

Throughout her career, Linda operated her own in-home daycare, demonstrating her nurturing spirit and deep commitment to caring for children. She also contributed her talents at Winnavegas Casino, where she enjoyed the camaraderie and vibrancy of the workplace.

Family was the cornerstone of Linda's life. She profoundly valued the time spent with her loved ones, particularly looking forward to Sunday night suppers, which were a cherished tradition. Her world revolved around family, with her stubborn streak reflecting her strong personality. Linda's presence was always felt at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events, where she enthusiastically embraced the role of a sports heckler, embodying her spirited and lively nature.

Linda's interests included a passion for gambling, crafting floral arrangements, dancing with David at Timber Ridge, bowling, and playing cards. She always found joy in these activities, sharing moments of laughter and bonding with family and friends alike.

She is survived by her three sons: Scott (Stacey) Mead of Smithland, Brad Mead of Smithland, and Allen Mead of Sioux City. Linda's legacy continues through her nine grandchildren: Chris (Katie), Jeff (Breanne), Austin (Brittany), James, Noah (Maddy), Taylor, Dylan, Hailey (Seth), and Hunter, as well as her six great-grandchildren: Libby, Phoenix, Miles, Hope, Cooper, and Ivy. She is also survived by her brother, David Taylor of Oklahoma.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David; her daughter-in-law, Lisa; her parents; and five siblings: Mary, Butch, Judy, Penny, and Rodney.

A Celebration of Life for Linda will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the Smithland United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Little Sioux Township Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
