Linda Margaret (Rains) Barcelou

Linda Margaret (Rains) Barcelou of Moville, Iowa passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at her daughter’s home from natural causes. A memorial service for close family and friends will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Jackson Street in Sioux City, Iowa at 10am on Saturday, March 15, 2025, with the family present at 9:30am. At that time, she will be laid to rest beside her life partner, George Nelson.

Linda was born on October 4, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa to Claude Sr. and LaVina (Sample) Rains. Linda attended Central High School in Sioux City, Iowa. Linda had two sisters, Gail and Blanche and one brother Claude Jr. She had five children and helped raise her granddaughter, Kassandra, after her daughter, Billie passed away.

Linda loved hanging out with her family, especially her baby sister and best friend, Blanche. Linda was a strong-willed woman, loved crafts, loved her pugs, loved her Coca-Cola and loved watching Hallmark mysteries. When she was younger, she loved traveling on a semi-truck with the love of her life, George Nelson.

Linda’s time on this earth was filled with many adventures and many memories. Her family will always miss and love her but will look forward to seeing her again one day. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Sr. and LaVina Rains, her long-time partner, George Nelson, her daughter, Billie Barcelou, her sister, Blanche Kyle, her brother-in-law, Donald Anfinson, her sister-in-law, Patricia Rains, her nephew, Brad Anfinson, her daughter-in-law, Lela Pierson, her son-in-law, Jesse Bloomfield and her beloved pugs, Otis and Bella.

Linda is survived by her sister, Gail Anfinson of Sioux City, Iowa, her brother Claude Rains Jr. of Davenport, Iowa, her daughters, Terri Scofield of Meridian, Idaho, Cheryl Barcelou of Moville, Iowa, Kassandra Rains of Meridian, Idaho and her sons, Kevin Sr. (Neide) Ross of Sandy Hook, Connecticut and David (Stacy) Ross of Seattle, Washington, step-son, George Nelson, Jr., her grandchildren: Nena, Filicia (Rich), Erica (Mark), Kevin Jr., Ethan, Aliya (Zach), Alexander, Daniel (Chelsea), Kassandra, Jesse, Madison, Marissa, Samuel, Jace, Emelia, David Jr., Rubi (Jediah), Breanna, Keelynn, Vicente (Brittney), Darsie, Greg, Cesar, Emelin, Ismael (Kelly), Giovanni, Marcella and many great grandchildren, bonus daughters, Crystal (Ismael) and Amber, bonus sons, Tim and Jason, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was loved!

Remember me with smiles, not tears, for all joy, through all the years. Recall a closeness that was ours, a love as sweet as fragrant flowers. But what a view I have from here, I see your face, I feel you near, I follow you throughout the day, you’re not alone along the way. And when God calls you…. you will be, right by my side… right here with me, till then, I’ll wait by heaven’s door, we’ll be united…even more.
