Mrs. Lita Ann Brown Ross died peacefully on September 24, 2014 in Ponca, Nebraska.Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Ponca Nursing and Assisted Living Center in Ponca, NE Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.Born September 28, 1941 in Chicago Illinois, the only child of John and Leola Kaufman Brown, Lita was christened in the Roman Catholic Church, attended Catholic elementary school and graduated high school in Chicago. She attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa and later married Frank Ross. She and Frank lived in Chicago, Ill and subsequently moved to Omaha, NE where they resided until his death in 2000.Lita was a resident at Elms Health Care Center since 2003 and was cared for by the devoted staff until her death. She enjoyed reading and loved animals, particularly kittens and puppies. She remembered fondly her childhood pet, Cocker Spaniel, "Butch". As a child, Lita was doted on by her paternal grandmother, Granny Brown. Lita was a "girly girl". She enjoyed being pampered and loved having her fingernails polished. She leaves to cherish her memory the residents and nursing staff at the Elms who cared for her with love and compassion; her step mother, Mrs. Ivy Brown, St. Petersburg, Fl; cousins Linda, Samuel, Sr., Samuel, Jr. and Keith Gulley, Atlanta, GA; A. Leo Wiggins and LaVonne Hill, Chicago, IL. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha, NE.Lita's family is sincerely grateful to the nursing staff at The Elms and Hospice of Siouxland for "your constant, kind, gentle and loving care of our dear cousin, Lita".
