Llaurel "Lonnie" L. Lund, 72, of Newcastle, NE passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at a Sioux City, IA hospital.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE. Burial will be in the Maskell Cemetery in rural Maskell, NE with military rites by the Newcastle American Legion Post #62. Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the funeral home. He graduated from Oak Lawn Community High School in Oak Lawn, IL. After graduation he moved to Lincoln, NE. He joined the Army and served until he was injured, then he joined the National Guard. Llaurel drove a truck for Lane Western in Omaha, NE before working for Lincoln Benefit Life, where he became their longest living active insurance agent. He moved to Newcastle, NE where he was currently living.He enjoyed every aspect of old classic cars, boating and hunting with his brothers. He was a member of the American Legion.Survivors include his children, Scott Lund of Lincoln, NE and Tammi (Lund) and her husband, Jim Bennett of Virginia; 3 grandchildren, Cody, Taylor and Connor Bennett of Virginia; brother, Connie (Vi) Lund of Bradenton, FL; sister-in-law, Elsie Lund of Newcastle, NE; and many nieces and nephews.Llaurel was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Palmer, Parker, Claire, Donald and Duane; sisters, Charline Britton, Twila (Dane) Olsen, Lynette (Ken) Vajarsky and Lavon Lund.
