Lois M. Brennan, 94 of Vermillion, SD, formerly of Newcastle, NE., died Monday, May 1, 2017 at a care center in Vermillion. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE. Burial will be in Newcastle City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangement are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.Lois Marie Brennan was born on a farm near Newcastle, NE on November 4, 1922 the daughter of Clarence and Bessie (Myers) Carman. She attended country school where she and her two brothers walked to and from school. She attended high school in Newcastle. Lois was baptized June 10, 1928, and a member of First Congregational Church. She married Thomas H. (Butch) Brennan on February 4, 1941. To this union seven children were born and raised on a farm one and half miles west of Newcastle. She lost her husband Butch on July 1, 1963 in a car accident. Lois resided in her later years in South Dakota. Lois was a homemaker, always busy with cooking and raising children. There were many farm chores which she attended to. Her favorite pastimes were reading and drawing, especially horses and paper dolls for her for girls to play with. Lois is survived by four daughters and three sons; Carol Bostwick of Ponca, NE, Linda Brennan of Redondo Beach, CA, Dorothy Brennan of Denver, CO, Lana Brennan and husband Randall Williams of Lincoln, NE, Thomas (Tom) and Michelle Brennan of Newcastle, NE, Terrance Brennan of Douglas, WY, and Allan Brennan of Hayward, CA; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren. Lois was preceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Butch; her twin brother, Lawrence and his wife Josephine; her brother, Lloyd and his wife Vera; a son-in-law, Clyde Bostwick; and her special friend John Simmons. Rest in Peace.
