Lorn James Beardshear

Lorn James Beardshear, 91, of rural Homer, NE went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at a Sioux City hospital surrounded by his family. Services begin with a Reception/visitation with the family at 1 p.m., Sun. May 25 at Glad Tidings Church in South Sioux City, NE. followed by services at 2:30 p.m. in the church. Rev. Michael Ring will officiate with Rev. Jack Sherwood presenting the message. Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, NE. Military rites will be conducted by Homer American Legion. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Lorn was born in Walthill, Nebraska on August 24, 1922, the son of Harvey W. and Mary E. Beardshear. He married Nellie June Nelsen on Feb. 27, 1946 following his service to his country during WWII at Duxford Air Drome in England.Survivors include 7 children and spouses: Barbara and Robert Heckathorn, Karen and Terry Meyer, Lorna and Jackson Sherwood, Keith and Cindi Beardshear, Kristen and Larry Eriksen, Janice and Robert Criss, and Ann and John Yandell. He has 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one brother and three sisters.
