Louis M. Kecki, 79, of South Sioux City, NE passed away at his residence, while surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 13, 2013.Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Father Paul Albenesius of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jackson is officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, November 15, 2013 at the funeral home.Louis was born on July 13, 1934 in Ludlow, Mass, the son of Edmund and Stella (Giza) Kecki. He grew up in Indian Orchard, Mass before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, where he served from November 23, 1956 until March 25, 1960. Louis married Kay Gillispie in Elk Point, SD in 1957. The couple traveled with his job as a hotel manager for thirty-five years. When they retired, they settled in South Sioux City, NE.Louis was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed boating, building picnic tables, working with his hands and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Kay Kecki of South Sioux City, NE; son, Steven Kecki of South Sioux City, NE; daughter, Linda (Robert) Carney of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren, Jason, Danny, Joey, Sarah, Katie and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Mia, Mikala, Savannah, Kaleb, Liam and Louis; brothers, Leo, Teddy, Chet and Mitchell; sister, Jane Forkey; and many nieces and nephews.Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Stella Kecki; and one brother, Hank.
