Louis Velasquez, 73 of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Deacon Bruce Chartier officiating and Military Honors offered by the United States Army Reserve. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Friday, April 8th, with family present at 11:00 a.m. Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com Louis was born on November 15, 1948 in Greeley, Colorado to Louisa and Jose’ Velasquez. He received his education in Colorado before relocating to Iowa. Louis served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Louis worked various jobs, including Kodak, JARCO, Jitterbug, Dad’s Place, and Red Room. He was an avid musician, playing with many bands throughout his career, including Terry Lee Legacy, and Oklahoma Dan Band. Louis loved playing pool and playing golf, and he always looked forward to the Red Room Lounge golf tournament each year. Louis married Pam Henshaw on April 21, 2000 in Sioux City, Iowa. Louis is survived by his wife Pamela Velasquez; children Trisha (Lance) Zimmerman, Angela Caudillo, Amanda Lewis, John Velasquez, Samantha Velasquez, Trever Velasquez, Kim Lenzen, Tracy Ehlers, Michelle Ehlers, and Melissa Ehlers; 19 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters Helen Baros, Marta (Don) Wadsworth, Eva (Wally) Swank, Solemna (Ray) Peters, Dorothy Nolan, Lorina Ortiz, Charlotte Velasquez, and Mariana Schmahl; and many nieces and nephews. Louis was preceded in death by his father Jose Velasquez, mother Louisa Soledad Lucero Velasquez, brother Jose Velasquez, Jr., and sister Maria Velasquez.
