Lydia "Elli" Schoenrock, 95 of Ponca, Nebraska, formerly of Martinsburg, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Elm's Health Care Center in Ponca, Nebraska.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, Nebraska with Pastor Terry Kenitz officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Online condolences may be sent at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Lydia Elli Schoenrock was born in Liegnitz, Germany on July 25, 1914 to Wille Richard Gellert and Elsa Aguste Schuster. Her father died in WW-I on April 18, 1918. Elli and her mother immigrated to America in 1925, where Elsa was a housekeeper for her sister and brother-in-law, Hans Thompson on a farm near Winside, Nebraska, where Elli attended a country school. Elsa Schuster Gellert died October 2, 1933.Elli married Emil Schoenrock April 2, 1933 in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, Nebraska. Elli was a homemaker on a farm west of Martinsburg.In 1960 Elli visited her only brother, Horst Gellert in Germany, and again in 1975. Horst died in November, 1988.Elli's husband, Emil was born in Germany on October 17, 1898 and died May 7, 1968.Survivors include two sons, Emil (Bonnie) Schoenrock of Rapid City, South Dakota and Raymond (Beverly) Schoenrock of Ames, Iowa; one daughter, Janice (Jerry) Burcham of Rapid City, South Dakota; along with 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
