Mabel R. Cain, 89, of South Sioux City, Nebraska went to be with her Lord on Monday, April 14, 2008.Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 17,, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Glad Tidings Lighthouse in South Sioux City, Nebraska with Pastor Michael Ring officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill, Nebraska.Mabel was born on August 26, 1918, in Walthill, Nebraska, the daughter of Hamilton and Bertha (Bowman) Rich. She worked at various jobs throughout her life. Mabel married Lloyd Cain in Union County, South Dakota. The couple lived in South Sioux City their entire married life. After Lloyd passed away, she became a Senior Companion, until she retired and moved to Matney's Colonial Manor in South Sioux City, Nebraska.She was a member of the Glad Tidings Lighthouse in South Sioux City, Nebraska. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, cooking, reading and traveling.Mabel is survived by one son, Merton Ewing of North Sioux City, South Dakota; five daughters, Fern and her husband Norman Reese of Yelm, Washington, Judy Barrett of Sioux City, Iowa, Patty and her husband Ken Adair of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Gloria and her husband Andy Andrews of Amity, Oregon, Betty and her husband Gary Mydland of Inwood, Iowa; one brother, Robert and his wife Mary Rich of Sioux City, Iowa; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lloyd; three sons, Cleo Ewing, Richard (Ricky) Cain and Mike Cain; seven brothers, Clarence, Elmer, Everett, James, Raymond, Fred and Francis Rich; and three sister, Opal Aldrich, Darlene Tranmer and Edith Rich.
