Mardell A. Sorensen

Mardell A. Sorensen, 85, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on July 23, 2015 at Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City.Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, NE. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE.Mardell was born September 8, 1929 to Clifford and O'Linda Jepsen in Wisner, NE. She attended school at District 19 to the 6th grade, and graduated from Thurston High School. She was married to Francis "Sonny" Sorensen on October 24, 1948. They lived in the Thurston area before moving to Livermore, CA in 1956. They returned to Nebraska in 1957 where Mardell worked at the Dakota County Treasurer's Office for 39 years, retiring in 1998.She is survived by her three children, Starla Sorensen of South Sioux City, NE, Jay Sorensen and special friend, Patti Hiemer of Millard, NE and Gene (Linda) Sorensen of Waterbury, NE; four grandchildren, Ryan Sorensen, Alexa Sorensen, Daphne Drake and Leah (Codi) Reinert; two great-grandchildren, Amirra Holmes and Jaela Watkins; her sister, Fauneil (Jim) Cox; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and special friend, Dean Clark.
