Marian Andersen Church, 91, of Ponca, Nebraska went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Elms Care Center in Ponca. A celebration of her life will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Ponca, Nebraska with Pastor Sara Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the Obert Cemetery in Obert, Nebraska. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Online condolences may be sent at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Marian Frances Poulsen was born in Wayne, Nebraska on October 11, 1918 to Ernest and Anna (Meister) Paulsen. She attended grade school in Wayne, Nebraska, and graduated high school from Obert High School, Obert, Nebraska.She married Elvin Laurits Andersen on November 27, 1939 in Obert. They lived west of Obert, where they farmed and raised Charollais cattle for most of their 47 years of marriage. They raised two sons, Don and Ron. Elvin passed away in 1986. Marian was blessed to find a second love of her life and married Francis Church of Maskell, NE on October 8, 1988. They lived in Maskell for several years and later made their home in Ponca.Besides being an excellent homemaker and host to neighbors and family, Marian was an active member of the Obert Baptist Church, a cook for the Obert/Maskell School District and also was a cook at Pop's Caf in Hartington, Nebraska, where she was well known for her homemade pies. While living in Ponca, Marian was active in the Senior Center and the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with her friends at the center. Her greatest joy was always her grandchildren, step-grandchildren and their families. Her happiest times were spent enjoying their company.Marian is survived by her husband, Francis of Ponca; two sons, Donald (Jane) Andersen of Ponca and Ronald (Heidi) Andersen of Indianola, Iowa; stepson, Kenneth (Kathy) Chuurch of Omaha, Nebraska; stepdaughter, Linda Caldwell of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; 5 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; and 7 step-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elvin; her parents; a sister, Claire Knudsen; 2 brothers, John and Jim Poulsen; and 1 great-granddaughter, Katie Pierce.
