Marian (Leigh) (Brennan) Bauman

Marian M. (Leigh) (Brennan) Bauman, 86 of Atkinson, NE, formerly of Ponca, NE passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Ponca, NE with Rev. Lorri Kentner officiating. Burial will be in Silver Ridge Cemetery in rural Ponca. Visitation will begin at 8:00 A.M. prior to the funeral at the church. In Atkinson, visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson. Local arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.Marian was born December 8, 1926 in Ponca, NE to Clyde D. and Lottie (Lakings) Leigh. She was the 6th of 8 children. She attended Ponca Public School and graduated in May, 1944. During her younger years she worked at the Ponca Telephone Company as a switchboard operator for her aunt, Charm Stanley. Upon graduation from high school, she began work at the Dixon County Treasurer's Office at Ponca and worked in several different offices in the courthouse for approximately 30 years. She was a clerk in the Selective Service Office until they closed the Dixon County office.In June, 1948 she married Maurice R. Brennan of Ponca at the St. Joseph Rectory in Ponca. To this union 4 children were born, Mike, John, JoAnn and Jim. In November, 1975 she married Larry W. Bauman at the United Methodist Church in Ponca. They lived in Fairbury, NE for 1 year before moving to Atkinson, NE. While in Atkinson she worked at Fleming Realty and Insurance and in the office of West Holt High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ponca.Survivors include her 4 children and families, Mike, John (Becky) and JoAnn all of Ponca, and Jim of Atkinson; granddaughters, Molly (Rusty) Egdorf of Ponca and Emily Brennan of Sioux City, IA; great-grandson, Charley Egdorf; great-granddaughter, Lilly Egdorf; brother, Stanley (Carol) Leigh of Ponca; sister-in-law, Billie Leigh of Merced, CA; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.Marian was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Bob, Jim, Dick and Merle; 2 sisters, Bonnie Persinger and Margaret Schram; and an aunt, Charm Stanley.
