Marilyn G. Welter

Marilyn G. Welter, 71 of Sioux City passed away Friday, January 17, 2025. Abiding by her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private service for close friends and family will be held.

Marilyn was born the daughter of Archie Roy and Doris (Dohlberg) Menzel on June 12, 1953 in Hollywood, California. The family moved to Sioux City, Iowa where she graduated from Central High School in 1971. Marilyn married Michael Welter on August 27, 1977. They made their home in Sioux City and enjoyed 47 years together.

Marilyn did home daycare for many years, which she loved because it allowed her to be close to her boys. She later worked as a paraprofessional for the Sioux City schools.

She loved spending time with her granddaughters and going out with Mike and their friends. In her younger years she liked going to parties and dancing. She also did a lot of shopping and enjoyed traveling in the summer. 

Marilyn is survived by her sons, Brandon (Lynette) Welter and Mitchell (Ashlyn) Welter; grandchildren, Kalie and Marley Welter; half-brother, Jim Kiertzner; and several close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Mike.
