Marjorie L. “Marj” Kamrath, 78, of South Sioux City, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Per Marj’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. She has donated her body to the University of Nebraska. If you wish to make a donation, please give to the Sioux City Gospel Mission. Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Marj spent the time to relay her life, in her words, and wanted her obituary to read as though it came from her directly.
I was born Marjorie L. Prescott, September 30, 1943, in Portland, Oregon. My dad, Herbert E. Prescott and mother, Evelyn L. Curtiss, have gone to be with Jesus. I grew up in Washington State and moved to Nebraska when I was 16.
I was married to Lloyd E. Kamrath on September 30, 1961 in Martinsburg, Nebraska. I graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1962. We went to California for five years, and I attended Azusa Citrus College at night and worked for General Telephone and Electronics. We returned to Nebraska in 1968.
I was blessed with three children: Rod, Lance, and Kelly. I was further blessed with a number of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, as well as a lot of family, friends, and loved ones.
Lloyd and I started Economy Transmission in South Sioux City in 1976, and I continued the business after Lloyd’s passing, until 2019. I worked as an auto mechanic, built transmissions, and was also the office manager.
The things I really enjoyed in life were: work, golf, bowling, cross country auto racing, flying an airplane, water skiing, and painting pictures. I have worked at a lot of jobs, but my favorites were General Telephone, the YMCA, and Walmart.
The things I loved: ministering to people, praying and telling them about Jesus; spending time with my family, friends, and loved ones; and going to church.
Lloyd and I were licensed and ordained as ministers in 1980, and pastored in the Siouxland area until the day we left this Earth to be with Jesus.
I was blessed with so many things in my life, but the greatest thing I ever did was receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior, and was filled with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. My favorite song that reflects my life, is “Nobody” by Casting Crowns.
Jesus is the only way to heaven, you have to believe in Him and receive Him as Lord and Savior to make it. That is the greatest gift you can give yourself.
I have gone home and I have truly began to live. Hope to see you there.
Love, Marj.
