Mark Laurence Eldredge, 70, of Sioux City, IA, passed away March 13, 2021 at Casa De Paz Nursing Home in Sioux City. Services will be held at a later date. Burial in Lake City will be held at a later date. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be at Lake City Cemetery in Lake City, IA.
Mark was born in Sioux City on December 22, 1950 to Robert C. and Ruth F. Eldredge. He attended Sioux City Schools, and at age 12 was a Midwestern AAU Diving Champion. He was a competitive swimmer for the Sioux City Mariners, the South Sioux City Dolphins, Central High School, and White Plains High School in White Plains, NY.
He served our nation in the United States Marine Corps from 1970-1972 as a Lance Corporal. He then joined the Army in 1980 and served as a Sergeant until 1984.
He worked in autobody work in Sioux City, the brickyard in Adel, Iowa, and was the local president of their Union. He was also a security guard for Pinkerton Security in Hartford, CT, and worked for Homeland Security in Lakeland, FL, until his retirement.
He was a member of the Hawkeye Rifle Pistol Club, and in the 1970s he was a member of a CB radio club, where his handle was "Bud Man." He was an avid Hawkeyes Football fan.
Survivors include his best friend, Loki (pictured); his brother, Kent Eldredge (Cathy) of Sioux City; sister, Sue Roberts (Gary) of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
