Mark David Schuur, 62, of Jefferson, SD passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024 with his family by his side.
He was born on October 25, 1962 to David and RoseMary ( Dorweiler) Schuur in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from Rockwell City High school before moving to Morningside. He worked various jobs in Iowa until he moved to North Sioux City and began working at Royal Canin where he worked for almost 28 years.
Mark was united in marriage to Melissa (Hummel) Schuur on March 5th, 2006. This union blessed Mark with two children, Meagen Wynn and Dietrik Cunningham.
He loved to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City chiefs with a bag of popcorn, peanuts or peanut M&M’s next to him. He loved being outside and doing yard work or keeping track of the oil changes that needed done. He loved to find any excuse to run to Menards and his family knew that when he was there, they wouldn’t see him for a few hours. One of his favorite things was to help his grandchildren fill the bird feeders and they loved letting him clean up the mess they made afterwords. He enjoyed watching Friends with his son and Roseanne and Little House on the Prairie with his wife. Most importantly he loved being with his family which included being surrounded by family at the annual “Schuur family fun day”. Two of his favorite sayings that you could always hear from him in any conversation was “I don’t think so, Tim” and “it is what it is” He loved spending time with his grandchildren and just giving them a hard time joking around with them.
Mark always treated everyone with the utmost respect and kindness no matter how long or how little he knew them. He was one of the most respectful and kindest people anyone knew. You could always tell when he was mad but you knew it wouldn't last long. He was always one of the happiest people you knew, even when he was hurting.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Melissa; children, Meagen and Dietrik; grandchildren, Addisen, Aiden, and Maddilyn; parents, David and RoseMary Schuur; brothers, Mike (Stacia) Schuur, Dan (Michelle) Schuur, Duane (Kim) Schuur, Ronnie (Angie) Schuur, and George Schuur; and many nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents; nephews, Seth and Deagan as well as his beloved dogs, Bud and Rowdy.
