Marlene Faye Miller, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, in South Sioux City, Nebraska, at the age of 80. She was born on August 2, 1944, in Sioux City, Iowa to Medford and Verna (Livingston) Franke. Marlene grew up in South Sioux City, where she attended school and graduated in 1962. She was known for her innate kindness and grace, qualities that remained central to her character throughout her life.
Marlene was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Robert Leroy Miller on March 14, 1964, in South Sioux City and this union was blessed with two children.
Marlene began her professional journey at the Nebraska State Bank, later transitioning to an administrative career at various medical clinics. Her dedication to her work was paralleled only by her commitment to her family. Marlene was an exemplary caregiver, having devoted her life to the well-being of those she loved, including taking exceptional care of her mother in her later years.
An outdoor enthusiast, Marlene cherished her time in nature. She enjoyed sunny days beside the pool and took great pleasure in tending to her garden and spending time with her pets. Her home was a reflection of her love for the outdoors, showcasing the beauty she cultivated with her own hands.
Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert "Bob" Miller, of South Sioux City, NE; her daughter, Shanal Majercak, of Phoenix, AZ; her son, Terence "Terry" Miller (Jeff Shellenberger), also of Phoenix, AZ; and her cherished grandson, Ryan Majercak, of Seattle, WA. She is additionally remembered by her two brothers, Marvin Franke of Las Vegas, NV, and Melvin (Vicky) Franke of Pierre, SD; and her sister, Charlene Franke of Las Vegas, NE; along with nieces and nephews who will continue to carry her memory forward.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Nancy Franke. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, elegance, and unwavering support for her family, ensuring that her spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all who knew her.
Cremation rites will be accorded and no service are planned.
