Marlin R. “Butch” Warner, 65, of South Sioux City, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022. A memorial visitation will be Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date at St. Michael Cemetery in South Sioux City.
Marlin was born on October 22, 1956 in Hawarden, Iowa to John R. and Mary A. (Eden) Warner. He was raised in Jefferson, South Dakota and graduated from Jefferson High School. He later graduated from Western Iowa Tech. Butch married the love of his life, Paula A. Schaefer, on June 9, 1979 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. They enjoyed many years together until her passing in 2015. He later married Debra Coppock on August 19, 2017.
Butch worked many manufacturing jobs over the years. He spent several years at Gateway, ConAgra, and Sioux City Brick & Tile before retiring from CHS.
His pride and joy was his grandchildren. He cherished his time spent with them and attending their activities. Butch also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching Oklahoma Sooner sports. He coached youth sports for many years and won several championships with the girl’s basketball program at St. Michael’s school. He was also fortunate enough to coach his boys and his grandchildren in their sporting events.

Butch is survived by his wife, Debra Warner of South Sioux City; sons, Steven (Heather) Warner of South Sioux City and James (Katie) Warner of Ponca; step-daughter, Kristin (Jacob) Gunia of Racine, Wisconsin; mother, Mary Warner of South Sioux City; sister, Marilyn (Terry) Muff of South Sioux City; and beloved grandchildren, Morgan, Jacob, Belle, and Declan.
He was preceded in death by his father, John and brothers, Ronald and Charles.
