Marvin LeRoy Nelson Sr.

Marvin LeRoy Nelson Sr., 81, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at a local hospital. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.  Visitation with the family present will be held two hours prior at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Marvin was born April 12, 1940 in Sioux City, the son of Andrew and Gertrude (Goodier) Nelson.  He married Carol Jean Krebsbach on January 12, 1961 in Vermillion, South Dakota.  To this union, four children were born.  

Marvin worked as a security officer for WITCC for 17 years and as the Community Service Officer in South Sioux City, NE for 3 years.

Survivors include his wife Carol Nelson; three children:  Randy Nelson, Vicky Nelson, Andy (Carrie) Nelson all of Sioux City; eight grandchildren:  Shawn (Rachel) Nelson, Amanda (John) Hookham, Jacob (Hunter) Barnes, Sara Addink, Travis Addink, Marcus Hoefling, Madison Nelson, and Macadan Nelson; and great grandchildren: Ava Barnes, Savannah Hookham, Justin Hookham, and one on the way.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents:  Andrew and Gertrude Nelson, his son Marvin Nelson Jr, his grandson Marvin Nelson III, and two brothers:  Charles Nelson and Darwin "Butch" Nelson.
