Mary “Roberta” (Lester) Craig, 96, of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Roberta's service will be live streamed at the following link: https://youtube.com/live/V9Hei8zw1k8. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Roberta was born on December 20, 1926 in Sioux City, to Robert and Edna (LaBar) Lester. She married William E. Craig on March 13, 1946 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and to this union eight children were born. The couple made their home in Sioux City and were married for 52 years. William passed away in 1998.
Roberta held many roles throughout her life, the proudest being homemaker and mother to her children. In addition to raising her family, she also worked as a cook at Normandy Restaurant and Green Gables; worked in maintenance for the Sioux City Community School District; worked at the DAV in Riverside; and assisted veterans by driving them to doctor’s appointments.
She was a member of Riverside Lutheran Church for many years.
Roberta loved writing, doing puzzles, and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She enjoyed funny birthday cards, and watching Patrick Mahomes.
Survivors include her two sons: Robert (Lori) Craig of Garibaldi, OR; and Doug (Teresa) Craig of Warren, OR; her daughter, Karen Craig of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; two sons: Danny and Jeffery Craig; three daughters: Katherine, Janice, and Kimberly; and three grandchildren: Missy, Danny, and Jeremy.
