Mary Ellen Mojica de Plascencia, 81 years of age, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at UnityPoint Health St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, IA.Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a vigil service at 6:30 P.M. on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, January 30, 2017 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE with Father David Fulton officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.Mary Ellen was born on January 2, 1936 in Houston, TX, the daughter of Jose Guadalupe Mojica and Antonia Caro. She attended school in Houston before returning to Mexico. She married Antonio Plascencia in 1951 in Mexico. They moved back to Houston in 1997, where she was a homemaker and mother of 14 children. Antonio passed away in 2004. Mary Ellen moved to South Sioux City, NE in 2006.She enjoyed spending time with, and visiting her family, and she also enjoyed reading.Survivors include her children, Vicente, Lelia, Pepe, Imelda, Nena, Rosa, Paty, Antonio, Teresita, and Lupe; grandchildren, JR, Wendy, Zuly, Mundito, Monica, Laura, Alma, Luis A, Pepito, Claudia, Josesito, Mary, Danny, Jesse, Bobby, Tony, Rosita, Maury, Lizbeth, Blanquita,Tonito, Monica, Junior, Teresita, Isaael, Gadiel, Amanda, Lupito, and Lesly; 10 great-grandchildren; and 13 brothers and sisters.She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Plascencia; her parents, Jose Guadalupe Mojica and Antonia Caro; and 4 children.
