Mary Jo Stevens, 70, of South Sioux City, NE, formerly of Ponca, NE passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in Omaha, NE.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, NE with Father Andrew L. Sohm officiating. Burial will be in Calvary at South Creek Cemetery in rural Ponca. Visitation with the family present will begin 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.Mary Jo was born on May 7, 1947 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of James "Codger" and Doris (Delaney) McQuillen. She graduated from South Sioux City High School and attended Wayne State College. She worked at Grandy-Pratt Insurance. Mary Jo was blessed with one daughter, Courtney.She loved spending time with family on holidays and special occasions, dogs, being outside, gardening, planting flowers, boating and reading. She had a free spirit and enjoyed having a good time.Survivors include her daughter, Courtney Stevens of Omaha, NE; siblings, Judy Curry of Ponca, NE, Marjorie Stanford of Ponca, NE and John (Pam) McQuillen of South Sioux City, NE; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Doris McQuillen; a brother-in-law, Dennis "Buddy" Daniel; and niece, Julie Stanford.
