Melvin Laurence Taylor, 46 of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019 in South Sioux City, Nebraska from complications of end-stage liver disease. Visitation will begin Monday, November 18, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Four Directions Community Center at 1501 Geneva Street, Sioux City and continue thru Wednesday, November 20th. Wake Services will be 7:00 p.m. both, Monday, and Tuesday Evening at the Four Directions Community Center with Danielle Bearshield officiating.
Interment will be at a later date at the Shoulder Creek Family Cemetery in South Dakota. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
Melvin was born on March 7, 1973 in Sioux City, Iowa to Gene Frazier and Elizabeth Taylor. Following his education, Melvin entered the work force, working in various careers as general labor. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Indian Mission in Sioux City and the Yankton Sioux Tribe in Wagner, South Dakota. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cruising in cars, breakdancing, boxing, and playing card tricks.
Melvin is survived by his brothers Ronald Dean Taylor and LeVar Tate Taylor of Sioux City; sister Gena Marie Taylor of Omaha, Nebraska; special companion Dawn Banys of Sioux City; grandmother Betty Taylor of Wagner, South Dakota; Sons Tylar and Marcus of Sioux City, adopted son Cody Taylor of Sioux City; and daughter Jordan Flying Hawk of Yankton, South Dakota.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents Melvin and Rachel Frazier.
Casket Bearers will be LeVar Taylor, Christopher Rave, Ronald Taylor, Darryl Taylor, Fernando Moralles, and Geogre Weddell. Honorary Bearers will be Bob Frazier, Roger Henry, Quentin Trudell, and Lee BigBear.
