Melvina "Melanie" Abbe

Melvina “Melanie” Abbe, 56, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at her residence surrounded by family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 10, 2020 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.  Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the service.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Melanie was born November 17, 1963 in Long Beach, CA, the daughter of Charles Phillip and Barbara Catherine (Sabatino) Abbe.  While her father was in the military, the family moved around quite a bit, settling in South Sioux City, Nebraska.  Melanie graduated from South Sioux City High School.  She married Randy Wilde and to this union, two children were born.  The couple later divorced.

Melanie worked as a housekeeper for a number of years, before becoming a “stay at home Nana”.  She loved taking care of her grandchildren and created many wonderful memories.  Melanie loved arts and crafts, cheering on her beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers, and a good trip to the casino.  She could light up a room with her personality and sense of humor and will be deeply loved and missed by all of her friends and family.

Survivors include her children:  Christina  (Jason) Undine of Sioux City and Joshua (Amanda) Wilde of Sioux City; five grandchildren:  Shalei, Staysha, and Syerra Undine and Amara and Kaius Wilde; siblings:  Patricia Ann (Edward) Tomaszek of Bridgeview, IL; Thomas Michael Abbe of Sioux City, Phyllis Irene (Robert “Bud”) Fleenor of Cozad, NE, Phillip Frederick (Kay) Abbe of Sioux City, Hoby John (Marcia) Abbe of South Sioux City, NE, Toby Abbe of South Sioux City, NE, and Joseph James John Abbe of South Sioux City, NE; numerous nieces and nephews, and a longtime boyfriend David Demarre.

She was preceded in death by her parents and twin brothers James and John. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials given in Melanie’s name may be directed to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
