Merle T Foulks, 95, of Ponca, NE peacefully entered his heavenly home on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from his residence in Ponca, NE.Funeral services to be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Evangelical Free Church in Ponca, NE with Pastor Dennis Ritchey officiating. Burial will be in Silver Ridge Cemetery in rural Ponca. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.Merle was born in rural Ponca, NE on February 6, 1921, the son of Luther and Laura (Kirk) Foulks. He attended country school and high school in Martinsburg, NE. Merle married Irma May Odle on October 8, 1947 at the home of the bride in Ponca. Merle farmed in rural Ponca. Later he worked in Sioux City at Fred's Tire and was a welder at Wilson Trailer, worked at Chief Wood Products and operated Merle's Saw Sharpening Shop in Ponca until his retirement.Merle was a charter member of the Ponca Evangelical Free Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his grandchildren, & great-grandchildren who brought much happiness to his life. He was a handyman and able to create or fix about anything. Merle will always be remembered for his quiet gentle spirit and infectious smile.Survivors include his children, Janice (Phil) Foster, Nancy (Curtis) Armstrong and Caleb (Beth) Foulks; grandchildren, Michelle Foster, Andrew (Charlotte) Foster, Alan Armstrong, Aaron (Marcie) Armstrong, Sarah (Lucas) Rabe, and Rachel Foulks; four great-grandchildren, Jonathan and David Foster, Isaiah and Bricelyn Rabe; sister, Velma Watchorn; brother-in-law, Edward Watchorn; and eight nieces and nephews.Merle was preceded in death by his wife, Irma; his parents, Luther and Laura Foulks; brother, George (Violet) Foulks; sisters, Betty Watchorn and Orma Foulks; and brother-in-law, Glenn Watchorn.Pallbearers are grandchildren, Michelle Foster, Andrew Foster, Alan Armstrong, Aaron Armstrong, Sarah Rabe and Rachel Foulks.
