Michael R. Greenwood

Michael (Mike) R. Greenwood, 43, of Sioux City passed away at his home on Saturday, August 21, 2021. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Green Valley Golf Course Club House followed by a luncheon. Those who will be attending are asked to dress casual or wear your favorite Steelers or Nebraska Huskers gear.

Mike was born on January 14, 1978 to Patrick and Shirley (Walker) Greenwood in Altoona, PA. He graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1996.

On June 4, 2005 Mike married Erin Schindler of Elgin, NE at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa. From this union they were blessed with a daughter, Adison.

From 2009 – 2011, Mike attended Southeast Community College in Beatrice, NE and was only 16 credits away from earning his Associates of Science degree in Business Administration with a focus on accounting. While attending SCC Mike was inducted into the International Honor Society (Kappa Beta Delta) in January, 2011 for achieving an outstanding and constant grade point average of 3.875.

The family made their home in several different communities before returning to Sioux City in 2015.

Mike’s greatest love was his family with the Steelers coming in at a close 2^nd. His daughter, Adison, was very special to him. He enjoyed camping, fishing, grilling/smoking meats, Husker football and of course watching his beloved Steelers.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Erin (Schindler) Greenwood; his daughter, Adison Greenwood; parents Patrick and Brenda Greenwood of Orangeburg, SC; Shirley (Walker) Greenwood of Altoona, PA; Siblings: Patrick (Joelle) Greenwood of Moberly, MO, Jessica (Mike) Seidel of Altoona, PA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; an aunt and uncle; cousin; and father-in-law.
