Michael "Mike" R. McIntyre

South Sioux City

Michael “Mike” R. McIntyre, 67 of South Sioux City passed away Friday, December 27, 2024. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 3, 2025 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery. 

 Mike was born the son of John and Lois (Learing) McIntyre on January 21, 1957 in Pierre, South Dakota. Mike married Donna Edler on May 1, 1987. They made their home in South Sioux City. Mike grew up the son of a construction worker and spent his younger years traveling the country with his parents and brothers. He was proud to work with his family at McIntyre & Sons Construction. 

 He had many hobbies. He enjoyed playing softball, pheasant hunting, bowling, and golfing. He was the best claw player ever; he would bring his bags of stuffed animals to children in the hospital during the holidays. At the center of his life were his grandchildren. He loved them and never passed up an opportunity to spend time with them. 

 Mike is survived by his wife, Donna McIntyre; children, Steven (Margo) Edler, Michael McIntyre, Chris (Carrie) McIntyre, Adam (Karli) McIntyre, and Nicholle McIntyre; siblings, Steve (Cheryl) McIntyre, Dwayne (Misty) McIntyre, Kathy (Tom) Hogenkamp, Beth Bauer; brothers-in-law, Mike Edler and Ronnie (Deb) Edler; sisters-in-law, Rosanne Chase, Connie (Reed) Bradford, and Jodi Gates; 18 grandchildren who all loved their Papa, and several nieces and nephews. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Mary Edler; daughter-in-law, Amber Schmitz; brother, Steve Gates; and nephew, Jessy Rysavy.
