Michael "Mike" James McGrory

July 31, 1948 — March 4, 2022

   Michael “Mike” McGrory, 73, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 at an Omaha hospital.

   Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel (3220 Stone Park Blvd.) in Sioux City with Pastor Jason Van Wyk officiating.  Burial will follow at Logan Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

   Michael James “Mike”, the son of Francis V. “Bud” and Shirley (Pfaff) McGrory, was born July 31, 1948 in Sioux City.  He grew up on Sioux City’s west side and was a graduate of Central High.

   On May 26, 1973, Mike was united in marriage to Patricia Thesenga in Jefferson, SD.  This union was blessed with two children, Nicholas “Nick” and Heather.  The family made their home in Sioux City.  Mike worked as a draftsman for several Sioux City businesses and in recent years worked at Menards.

   Mike enjoyed the outdoors including fishing and hunting.  He also enjoyed playing pool and watching sports especially his nephew’s baseball games.  He was a member of Peace Reformed Church in Sioux City.

   Mike is survived by his mother and step-father, Shirley (Wilbur) Hof of Sioux City, IA; son, Nicholas “Nick” McGrory of Sioux City; daughter, Heather (Andy) Volesky of Clive, IA; three grandchildren: Tyler, William and Marley Volesky; former wife, Patricia McGrory of Sioux City, IA; two brothers: Mark (Ginny) McGrory of Leawood, KS and Steve (Cheryl) McGrory of Sioux City, IA; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

   He was preceded in death by his father, Francis V. “Bud” McGrory on August 10, 1969.
