Michael Joseph Murphy

Michael Joseph Murphy, 78 of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Elk Point Baptist Church. Michael was born on October 22, 1942 in Sioux City to James Joseph and Ruth Evelyn (Graves) Murphy. He attended Heelan High School, where he graduated in 1961. He went on to attend National Business Training School and Morningside College.

On April 4, 1970 he married Carla Jean Albert in Moville, IA. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. Michael was a member of Elk Point Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carla Murphy of Sioux City; his daughters: Mary Amici (Joe) of Virginia Beach, VA; Tracy Minor (Shane) of Sioux City; son, John Murphy (Rhianna) of Sioux City; a brother, Daniel J. Murphy (Joyce) of Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Cis Murphy-Coome (Barry) of Cape Coral, FL; five grandchildren: Michael Moos (Hannah), Christian Murphy, Brady Murphy, Caesar Amici, and Maximillian Amici.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Colleen Murphy; brother, Patrick J. Murphy; grandson, Seth Moos; and granddaughter, Taylor Moos.
