Michelle Renee DeLaughter

May 22, 1972 — January 2, 2021

Michelle Renee DeLaughter, of Sioux City, passed away January 2, 2021 at home surrounded by family and a close friend after a ferocious battle with cancer over the past several months.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

The daughter of Paula DeLaughter, Michelle was born on May 22, 1972 in Sioux City, IA.   Michelle was a devoted mom to her children, Xavier and Jaycee and grandmother to Malcolm, her only grandchild. She graduated from West High School in Sioux City and obtained an Associates Degree at Western Iowa Tech.

She was a lifelong Sioux City resident and enjoyed a 30 year career at Bomgaars working in the Corporate Office. Her Bomgaars work family has always been an important part of her life.

Words can’t begin to express how much she will be missed daily by her friends and family members. Her laugh, sense of humor and overall caring for those closest to her will forever be the memories that matter.

Survivors include her son, Xavier Pettiford; her daughter, Jaycee DeLaughter; her brother, Jeremy (Beth) DeLaughter, her sisters, Raynell DeLaughter, Corie Bulizak and Katie Bulizak (Timm Harter), her grandson, Malcolm Pettiford; nephews and nieces Derrick (Shelbie), Taylor, Mari, Tank, Mi’Layiah, Kaylee, Weston and Grant.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Paula DeLaughter, her grandparents Ralph and Jane DeLaughter, her aunt Barbara Moore and her cousin Michael Brislane.
