Mick A. Samuelson

Mick A. Samuelson, beloved husband of Doris, 65, of South Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Mick was born on June 16, 1957 in Bancroft, Nebraska, to Arnold “Arnie” and Mila Jean (Krusemark) Samuelson. He grew up in Bancroft and graduated from Bancroft High School. He went on to play college basketball at Morningside College, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.

Mick worked in sales and service for Valley Irrigation for many years, until his retirement. He worked for years in Wakefield, Nebraska, then relocated to South Sioux City where he continued his work.

On November 29, 1991, Mick married Doris Kessler in Wakefield, Nebraska. The couple made their home in South Sioux City.

He served on the Dakota County Water Board for many years as an elected board member. In his spare time, Mick’s pride and joy was flying and being a pilot. He would often offer rides to his family and friends. He was also a lifelong Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan.

One of the highlights of Mick’s life was escorting his father from Phoenix to Washington, D.C. on the Honor Flight.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Doris Samuelson; mother, Mila Jean Samuelson; two sisters: Linda Bjorn (Kurt) and Jill Teafatiller (Guy); sister-in-law, Marie Abbato (Mike); brother-in-law, Larry Kessler (Sis); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arnie; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and a beloved aunt, Ina Welding.
