Michael G. "Mike" McFarland, 61, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Unity Point-St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, IA.A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.Mike was born in Sioux City, IA on July 9, 1953, the son of Willard and Dorothy (Michener) McFarland. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. He attended Riverside High School. Mike married Lynn Beaver in Elk Point, SD on November 5, 1973. He worked at IBP/Tyson until he had to retire due to his health.He enjoyed life, cars, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.Survivors include his wife Lynn McFarland and children, Michele (Shawn) Gatch and George McFarland, all of Sioux City, IA; four grandchildren, Tonya, Tiger, Ethan and James; a sister, Deon Knapp of Sioux City, IA; brothers, Bill (Nancy) McFarland of Westfield, IA and Matt (Julie) McFarland of Sioux City, IA; and several nieces and nephews.Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Dorothy McFarland; and a grandson, Tony Evans.
