Mildred T. Linafelter, 88, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at a Sioux City, IA hospital.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, April 11, 2016 at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Kelley Pedersen officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Emerson, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE.Mildred was born at Hubbard, NE on April 11, 1927, the daughter of Benjamin and Lena (Starzl) Purucker. She graduated from Hubbard High School and earned her teaching certificate from Wayne State College. She taught school for eight years. Mildred met her husband, Ellis Linafelter at a barn dance in rural Waterbury, NE. They were married on June 2, 1948 at First Lutheran Church in Allen, NE. The couple farmed the family farm near Waterbury, NE until 1980, when they moved into South Sioux City, NE. Mildred worked as a realtor for Century 21 and at Mary Treglia Community Center. Ellis passed away on June 10, 2011.Mildred was a member of, and very active in First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, NE. She was also a member of the Dakota City American Legion Auxiliary, was very active in the South Sioux City Senior Center, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, traveling and dancing.Survivors include her children, Gene (Cheryl) Linafelter of Ponca, NE, Kendra (Dennis) Victor of Emerson, NE and Kaye (Stan) McAfee of Waterbury, NE; grandchildren, Crystal Linafelter and her fianc, Roger Heath, Josh Linafelter, Angela (Dan) Marcum, Justin Victor, Derek (April) Victor, Brandon (Katie) Victor, Tiffany (Rich) Lamprecht, Joel (Jenna) McAfee, Blake (Rachel) McAfee, Cody (Madison) McAfee; 20 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joyce Purucker; and many nieces and nephews.Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Lena Purucker; her husband, Ellis Linafelter; and 4 brothers.
