Mildred I. Richards

Mildred I. Richards, 94, of Hinton, Iowa passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Bickford Memory Care.

Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Morningside Lutheran Church with Pastor Noah Ruppert and Pastor Tom LoVan officiating.  Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Hinton, IA.   Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.   

Mildred was born February 3, 1927 in Hinton, Iowa, the daughter of Chris and Amelia (Arndt) Hahn.  She graduated from Hinton High School on May 8, 1945.  Mildred married Darvin C. “Dar” Richards on October 17, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hinton.  Darvin passed away on June 18, 2009 in Sioux City.

Mildred was a lifelong residence of Hinton.  She worked as a Postal Clerk for the United States Postal Service, retiring on December 29, 1989.  Mildred was Baptized and Confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, and was an active member, participating in the Quilter’s Club and Ladies Aid.  Mildred was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She was an avid bridge and card player and enjoyed bowling. 

Survivors include Mildred’s daughter:  Kristy and her husband Ross Beisner; grandsons:  Matthew and wife Angela Flannery and their children:  Mason and Ava, and Rusty and his wife Kacey Flannery and their daughter Falon.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and husband Dar.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Flannery, Rusty Flannery, Ross Beisner, Norm Thoreson, Mike Richards, and Richard Richards.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Mildred’s Great Grandchildren:  Mason, Ava, and Falon.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Bickford Memory Care or St. Croix Hospice.

The family would like to thank the entire Bickford Staff and Alicia with St. Croix Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of Mom.
