Milton John Cain

March 11, 1932 — December 21, 2021

   Milton John Cain, 89, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Bickford Senior Living.

   Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  Burial with military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Pierson, IA.  Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the funeral home.

   Milton, the son of Amiel Ben and Beulah (Austin) Cain, was born March 11, 1932 in Sioux City.  Milt grew up in the Springdale area in Sioux City.  In April of 1949, he joined the Army National Guard where he served for a short time before entering the United States Army.  He served his country until his honorable discharge in October of 1952.  Milt returned to make his home in Sioux City.

   On December 11, 1953, Milt was united in marriage to Virginia Kucera in South Sioux City, NE and this union was blessed with three children.  The family made their home in Sioux City and Milt worked various jobs before starting his 56-year career with Wilson Trailer retiring at age 79.  Virginia passed away on March 29, 2009.  He continued to live at home and in later years his daughter Lucretia Cain helped care for him until her passing.  In recent years, his granddaughter Desiree Davis and her family (Phoenix, Daniel and Maverick) have been his caregivers.

   Over the years, some of his hobbies included:  cheering on his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes, bowling, fishing, hunting, and wood working.  In his early years, he enjoyed swimming.  He was a member of the CB Radio Club and a Union Member through his work.

   He is survived by one brother, Leo Cain; his special cat, Spook; eight grandchildren: Desiree, Tiffany, Hunter, Montana, Ben, Mindy, Amanda, and Nick; numerous great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; three children: Donnie Cain, Terry Cain, and Lucretia Cain; one grandchild, Gemini Baumgardner; and several siblings.
