Norman A. Loetscher

Norman A. Loetscher, 79, of Sioux City, IA, formerly of Allen, NE passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at a Sioux City care facility.Memorial services were at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Carol Jean Stapleton officiating. Visitation with the family present was from 1:00 P.M. until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home.Norman was born on May 29, 1936 near Allen, NE, the son of Arnold and Hedwig (Rogat) Loetscher. He attended rural school in the Allen area. He served his country from 1959 to 1963 as a member of the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, Norman began farming in the Allen area until 1999. He continued to live on the farm until his health declined and then he moved to the care facility.Norman enjoyed fixing things with whatever was available, as well as gardening, making wine with his family members, and he loved his dogs. He spent many hours reading and studying his Bible.He is survived by his sister, Ilene Viers; his nephews, Daniel (Carolyn) Viers, David Viers, Merlyn (Sue) Steecker, Calvin Steecker, Kenneth (Giovanni) Steecker, Curtis Steecker, and Earnie Steecker; his nieces, Marlene (Jim) Wagner, Cheryl (Dan) Harris, and Denise (Jeff) Belew; as well as numerous grand-nephews and nieces, and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Nora Steecker.
