O.C. Dinnie Lukken, 86, of Elk Point, SD passed away at a Sioux City hospital on Saturday, September 29, 2012.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE with Rev. Dr. Bud Christenson officiating. Burial will be in the Maskell Cemetery in Maskell, NE, with military rites by the Ponca American Legion Post. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 beginning at 5:00 P.M. with the family present at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences to the family may be posted at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Dinnie was born on November 30, 1925 in the Newcastle, NE area to Carl and Bertina (Rosendahl) Lukken. He was one of nine children. He served in the Army from 1943 until 1946, where he served as a Sergeant with the 38th Infantry Division in World War II. He was then called to the U.S. Navy, serving from June of 1950 until August of 1952, where he served as a Gunners Mate aboard the Calente AO-53 in Korea. He worked for Dodge and Plymouth from 1952 to 1954 and was the service manager for Lampson Chevrolet in Laurel, NE for a year. He then farmed in Silvercreek Township for twenty years before becoming an over the road truck driver, running the Mid-West and West Coast for many years. Dinnie married Mildred Kamrath on December 25, 1948.He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 10753 and served as Post Commander. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 134.Survivors include his very good friend, Norma Jean Hoffman; 3 sons, Larry Lukken and his special friend, Myra, Randy Lukken and Dennis, and his wife, Teri Lukken, all of Ponca, NE; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Becker; and many nieces and nephews.Dinnie was preceded in death by his parents and 8 brothers and sisters.
